      Hi!

Engineering takes up a lot of my time. As well as working full-time, I’m also working towards becoming a “chartered engineer” with the Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE). This involves recording your achievements as you develop as an engineer and writing reports four times a year. Eventually, you have an interview. If you pass, you become a chartered engineer.

I’m also a STEM ambassador, attending science fairs, careers fairs and events like imanengineer to try and inspire the next generation of engineers – which our country will certainly need in the near future!

So engineering does take up a lot of my time – but I think it is time well spent.

I am contracted to work 37.5hours a week but like Neil below I am also working towards my chartership so find myself doing reports at weekends.

However, engineering is more than just a job to me, it’s my passion. So I volunteer for an engineering charity (Engineers without Borders – who I would use the £500 with to create a new workshop for kids to learn about engineering to help people in poverty). I am also a STEM ambassador and genuinely just love engineering, so read up about it during my spare time.
