      Hi!

I think that demonstrating the the kind of benefits that engineering brings to society is a great way to inspire other people. Consider some of the great work done by engineers:

      – developing prosthetic limbs
      – designing roads, dams, bridges
      – ensuring our energy supply is secure
      – increasing standards of living through new technologies

      …the list could go on!

On top of the great benefits that you deliver to society, engineering is a profession to work in . You get to be creative, have the opportunity to work in a variety of industries, and solve problems – all of which make for a really rewarding career!

      Hope this helps!

I think currently a lot of people take engineering for granted and only complain when it goes wrong. However through my charity work I have seen what it is like for people who don’t have access to clean water or flushing toilets, and how engineers bring great improvement to their lives by providing solutions that make a drastic improvement.

It is why I wanted to be involved in this event. To inspire people about all the amazing things engineers do. Through engineering real improvements to people’s lives can be made. One quote I like that really brings home the point is that “Engineers save more lives than doctors”. In other words engineering prevents people from getting sick in the first place.
