• Question: What is the difference between computer science and electrical and computer engineering?

      Like Pete, I have limited knowledge in this area! Your best bet is to wait for Matthew – he’s likely to give you a better answer since it’s his specialist area!

      From the sounds of it, Computer Science is more to do with the theory of how how a computer works and programming…

      … while Computer Science and Electrical Engineering is more to do with the practical aspects of computers and electronics.

      I have little doubt there is a lot that they have in common!

      Apologies. Despite having quite a few friends who studied each topic at university I don’t really know the difference.

      However my vague idea is that electrical engineering is much more about the tangible wiring of circuits where as computer science is more programming a computer. Both work closely together am sure.
