      Hi fritz33,

A quadcopter is what is also reffered to as a UAV (Unmanned Air Vehicle) or to be more correct a UAS (Unmanned Air System). It is what the police use to do surveillance, the police used them a lot in the London Olympics as part of counter terrorism, they are also more frequently used by anyone that can afford them these days.

There was recently an incident at Gatwick Airport where a quadcopter came in close range of a landing aircraft which has prompted a review as to how quadcopters, UAS, UAV are regulated (laws passed to prevent something worse happening!)
