Yes, I’ve never worked for anything but a large engineering company. However there are benefits to both. In a large company there are lots of different opportunities and you are likely to work on bigger projects. However working for a smaller company also allows you the chance to get greater responsibility sooner.

      Hi 464stfb46!

Yes, I am currently in a large engineering company. This means that I have the opportunity to quite easily work in a lot of sectors, including: Aerospace, Defence, Energy, and Rail – to name a few! The actual department I work in is quite small, however, at around 25 people.

The fact that it was a big company never really factored into my decision, however, as I would have happily work in smaller teams at a smaller company too!

      Hi 464,

I have, I used to work for Atkins, which is the biggest engineering consultancy in Europe (at least it was when I was there, perhaps Neil can correct me!) I have also worked within big engineering companies whilst at Atkin such as Cobham, Airbus, Boeing as I was helping to solve some problems as part of my job at Atkins.
