All jobs have highs and lows, so yes, there are some tasks in my job that I don’t particularly find all that exciting. Often it comes down to the documentation side of things, as you need to make sure people know what you have been doing. This is often referred to as the “Paper Trail” and if something was to go wrong, then it is likely that the “Paper Trail” would be looked at to make sure corners had not been cut. So, it is a necessary process but when you get caught up and excited and want to rush off towards the solution, it can feel a bit limiting. It’s an important part of the job though, so can’t be ignored.

      Hi charen!

Most of the jobs that I work on have a pretty quick turnaround – usually they take in the order of weeks. This means that I’ve frequently got a new piece of work to work on – which keeps things interesting!

There are some things that can get boring though – and it’s usually things that don’t involve engineering! This can be doing things like filling out expenses forms, making space in your email inbox (how can it always be full?! 😀 ) and general admin.

      Hope this helps!

      Hi Charen,

I would be lying if I said it was never boring!, Sometimes you have to do the boring stuff to appreciate the interesting stuff! This isn’t uncommon in any job in any field, I expect Hollywood Actors/Actresses get bored as well!
